It was a great scene. But it was Hollywood. Designed to get “oohs and aaahs” but no genuine wisdom.
The great Shawnee leader, Tecumseh said, “Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.” He added at the end (it was all recorded in a poem he wrote), “Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”
Now we’re getting into deeper perspectives than Hollywood writers can understand.
The Apostle Paul took us deeper yet in Philippians 1:21 when he proclaimed, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
A very good friend is going through the biggest health battle of his life right now. I pay attention to the words that come from those in the midst of, or experienced in, a significant event.
My friend in the health battle told a group of us recently,
We are all living in the land of the dying and we’re going to the land of the living. If this is what God is going to use to call me home, I can teach my Grandchildren more about faith and about life by how I die than I could ever teach them by how I live.
Think About it
We get genuine wisdom from scripture and Godly men & women. Hollywood is feel-good creative writing, but very shallow.
Be careful who you listen to.
