When I was a young man trying to make ends meet, all my tools were stolen out of my truck. I was livid that someone would take a man’s only means of income, just to sell it for whatever dope they wanted. The audacity of someone who would do such a thing was hard for me to process.
But a few years later I had a friend arrested for sexually molesting his 5-year-old daughter. He asked me to support him in court because it was her fault; she wanted him to do those things to her. That moved me to a whole new level of recognizing evil, how evil doers justify their actions and how some will defend them.
I’ve now seen sabotage, betrayal, scandals more than I can count, the real blood of death, and the many ways humans treat each other.
I am not jaded, living in fear, given to anger, or spending too much time watching news. I don’t look for demons in every trashcan or lay awake at night worried about intruders.
I am glad some sit on life’s hillside and see only the beauty around them. That’s a gift I wouldn’t want to take from them. But I am called to do what I do, and I recognize the seriousness of that calling.
I am determined to do my part to expose and rout evil when I can. If you are reading this, we probably think alike.
The devil is real. He wants to destroy everything and everyone. His minions are active. He has mission clarity, lots of help, tons of tactics and millennia of momentum.
Jesus wasn’t tossing word salad when He said,
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. … If they persecuted me, they will persecute you … They will treat you this way because of my name … Whoever hates me hates my Father as well… they have hated both me and my Father… They hated me without reason.” [i]
Think About it
Was Jesus persecuted? So will you and those you love. Intervene where you can. Train like lives depend on it.
