Mark Twain is credited by many as having been the first to say, “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born, and the day you find out why.” Whether he really was the one who first said it or not doesn’t diminish the value of the quote.
Across our great nation, from the 49th parallel to the Mexican border; from Miami to Fairbanks; from Bangor to San Diego, and beyond to Hawaii; men and women have recognized the unique call of church security. It is the greatest grassroots effort that many (including myself) have ever seen, let alone honored to be a part of.
It isn’t about notoriety, adventure, authority or status. And it sure isn’t about the money. So, why do so many do this?
Because we heard a sound, saw the situation and responded to it. Congregants with protection in their DNA have recognized to what is happening at faith-based organizations right here in America and stood up to say, “not to the ones I love.”
We see what scriptures told us – that the devil is a roaring lion, seeking who he can destroy. We know he uses people to do it. Some of those people act on Satan’s behalf to change the culture of our nation to something not aligned with our profound and unique faith based foundations. Yes, there are people in high places of our government who would like nothing more than for us to break every cultural anchor holding us to scriptural, or even just ethical, standards.
While those are some of the most dangerous minions of evil, there are others that want to inflict physical harm on any people group that represents those cultural anchors. Any faith is fine with them as long as it has nothing to do with Christ.
One group we fight with our votes. The other takes a group of responsible defenders ready, willing, and able to protect.
Think about it
We know why we are here, doing what we do. We were not hired, recruited or drafted. We responded to a call.
We hate what God hates and love what He loves.
