Lessons Learned in the Aftermath of a Natural Disaster: Responding to provide rescue, recovery, and security services to a town destroyed by an EF5 tornado. On May 4, 2007. Little did we know enroute to Greensburg, we would have no local resources available! All government buildings and equipment were destroyed in this town of 1,700 residents. I was appointed to serve in the capacity of Director of all law enforcement personnel during the after math of the tornado. Security was a major issue immediately, even during the rescue and recovery process!
