Safety Ministry Team Training and Documentation

  • Breakout Session
  • Room 77
  • September 6 2025 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

A quick review of how to develop a simple and effective training plan and documentation structure for your team. In today litigious environment, if you have an incident at your faith-based organization, be assured attorneys will be doing a deep dive on how your team was trained and will ask for supporting documents for evidence. Insurance companies may also need or require supporting documentation to make underwriting decisions and set policy premiums. Protecting what you love includes first protecting the people you serve and second protecting physical assets and both must be done as ambassadors of Christ. You can do everything right, but if you don't have objective evidence you put yourself and your organization at risk.

This presentation will touch on developing a training plan: On Boarding, Skills Development, Maintaining Skills, and developing a documentation structure: Policies: Guidelines (SOPs), Work Instructions, Records, Master Lists, Matrixes, and Forms. For FBSN Members, many of these “templates” are available on the forum and are included in the “Watchful Shepard” book published by the FBSN. Personal Defense Training, LLC has developed this structure that is being effectively used by Faith Based Organizations to manage risk for their teams.
