About the speaker
Sgt. Steve Jastrzembski is a 2002 Mishawaka High School graduate who began his service as a U.S. Army Reserve Military Police Officer while still in school. He later earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Ancilla College, where he also played collegiate baseball.
Sgt. Jastrzembski has served multiple combat deployments, including tours in Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, and Afghanistan, where he led a 24-man security team for General John W. Nicholson, Commander of U.S. Forces–Afghanistan.
Since 2006, he has served with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, holding roles such as Assistant SWAT Commander, SWAT Training Resource Officer, and School Resource Officer. In 2021, he was appointed Day Shift Commander for the Patrol Division, overseeing daily patrol operations.
Today, he continues his military service as Chief Instructor for the 2-100 Training Detachment in Inkster, Michigan, while leading with the same commitment to service and professionalism he has demonstrated throughout his career.
