Chief of Police, Pratt Police Department November 2018 to Present
• Directs all day-to-day operations of the Pratt Police Department.
• Oversees the annual budget of the department.
• Supervises command staff of the Pratt Police Department to achieve goals.
• Works closely with businesses, schools, and event coordinators to provide public safety.
• Collaborates with leaders within the department to develop and establish programs to improve the employees and the agency.
o Directed the development of a 22-week Field Training Officer Program. This led to better trained officers serving the community.
o Directed the implementation of the in-service training program for the department. These training events have also benefited other local and regional law enforcement agencies who attend.
o Worked closely with the USD 382 schools for the implementation of the School Resource Officer Program.
o Directed the implementation of Public Information and social media to keep the community better informed of public safety.
o Directed the development of an agency peer support program that fosters better emotional, physical, and mental health for employees who serve our community.
o Re-established proper chain of command.
o Directed the implementation of updated and improved departmental policies and procedures.
o Worked closely with grant funding for services and equipment that enhances technology for the betterment of public safety.
• Assists employees within the agency, at all levels, as needed to better serve the community.
• Organizes and utilizes the strengths of personnel to complete goals.
• Oversees training records of law enforcement personnel, as required by the Kansas Certified Peace Officers Standards and Training, to remain compliant with all standards of training as required by state statute.
• Maintains professional working relationships with other agencies in the County of Pratt, the State of Kansas, as well as partnerships on the Federal level.
Patrol Sergeant, Pratt Police Department September 2014 – November 2018
• Supervised the officers assigned to the patrol shift.
• Maintained records of calibration and proper testing of certain law enforcement equipment within the department.
• Reviewed and approved investigative reports completed by officers prior to dissemination to the City or County Attorney’s offices for prosecution.
• Oversaw the service records, repairs, and scheduled maintenance for patrol vehicles for the Police Department.
• Assisted officers with criminal investigations at all levels.
